Hi There! If you made it to this page, you’re probably wondering who I am and what this blog is about. It’s quite simple — I’m a guy, in my mid-twenties, trying to build wealth through smart financial planning and investment, while also annihilating my student loans.
Why TwentySomethingMoney.com?
I’ve found a lot of websites focused on personal finance, but everyone talks about paying off their mortgages and raising their kids. At this point in my life, I have neither — instead, I’m at the point where I have my degree and a decent job, and am ready to take on the world. Now, as I search for financial freedom, I’ve decided to chart my own path and figure out what works for me, while blogging along the way! Hopefully, this site will be interesting and insightful, for the millions of other twenty-somethings in the same boat.
As I continue to learn more and more about personal finance, I find it tends to be something of a taboo subject, where no one really wants to talk about it publicly… but this blog will be different, as I’ll dig into my own as I blog anonymously from my apartment, somewhere in Canada.
Financial Goals
I have a few big goals over the next few years in terms of finances, including…
- Pay off my $10,000 student loan by the end of 2011
- Save $10,000 by the end of 2011 (for retirement/down payment)
- Buy a home in the next few years
- Earn an additional $5,000/year from sources other than my full time job
- Become financially independent and work for myself
On top of this, I’m focused on learning more about personal finance and investing, while at the same time growing this blog into a valuable resource for other twenty somethings
My Perspective
Aside from being a twenty something guy, I have a degree in Commerce and work for an interactive marketing firm. I’ve been an on-and-off again student since graduating high school, but have finally completed a degree and work in that field. I live downtown in a major city, am a news junkie, live and breathe the internet, and lead a fairly laid back lifestyle.
